By Michael Gioia
Singer-actor Ricky Martin, who currently stars in the Tony Award-nominated Broadway revival of Evita, has signed a talent holding deal with NBCUniversal to develop and star in a network television series, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
"Ricky connects with his audience in a very palpable way — and we are thrilled that he will be adding TV star to his incredible resume," said Universal TV executive vice president Bela Bajaria.
Martin, who appeared on television on the Fox hit musical series "Glee," stars as Che in Broadway's Evita and has also been seen as Marius in Les Miserables. He is best known for his singing career, in which he rose to fame with his 1999 hit song "Livin' la Vida Loca."
