Sam Gold will direct Doran's The Mystery of Love and Sex beginning Feb. 5, 2015, in LCT's Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. The production officially opens March 2. Doran is the playwright of Kin. She also serves as a writer-producer of "Masters of Sex" and previously "Boardwalk Empire."
The play, according to LCT, "is the story of four individuals whose lives remain inextricably intertwined over time. Charlotte and Jonny are two college students, long-time friends since the age of 9. As their relationship turns romantic, over her parents' objections, an onslaught of truths about their past is unleashed, threatening not only their relationship with each other but with their families as well."
It will have sets by Andrew Lieberman, costumes by Kaye Voyce, lighting by Jane Cox and original music and sound by Daniel Kluger.
The theatre's new works initiative, LCT3, will present Jones' Verité under the direction of Mortiz von Stuelpnagel beginning Jan. 31, 2015, in the Claire Tow Theater. The production officially opens Feb. 18 for a run through March 15.
According to LCT3, "In Verité, Josephine, a stay-at-home mom and struggling writer, is offered an unusual deal for her memoir: she has to make her life exciting enough to publish. As mysterious and even sinister events start happening to her, Josephine has to decide how far she is willing to go to make her life into art, and whether it's all coincidence or if someone is determined to make sure her memoir is a best-seller at any cost."
The production will have sets by Andrew Boyce, costumes by Melissa Schlachtmeyer and lighting by Matthew Richards.
Casting and on-sale ticket dates will be announced at a later date.
