The singing actor, who was Tony-nominated for his performance in the hit musical The Book of Mormon, told Playbill.com earlier this week, "We just had our table read last week. I play Anne Hathaway's business partner. It's very exciting to work with [writer-director-producer] Nancy Meyers, who is incredible, and then to be with Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro is really exciting."
Rannells, who is now a series regular on HBO's "Girls," described the film as such: "Anne Hathaway runs an internet clothing company and a very successful one, and Robert De Niro plays a retired CEO that in his retirement finds that he needs something else to do, so he becomes an intern at her office and sort of helps mentor her."
Rannells steps into the title role of Hedwig Aug. 20.
