THE SCREENING ROOM: Celebrating Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Evita (Video)

The Tony Award-winning Best Musical Evita, featuring music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and a libretto by Tim Rice, opened Sept. 25, 1979, at the Broadway Theatre. In celebration of the production, looks back at various performances from the musical.

The original production starred Tony Award winners Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin as Eva Peron and Che, respectively. The production received Tony Awards for Best Actress in a Musical (LuPone), Best Book (Rice), Best Direction of a Musical (Harold Prince), Best Actor in a Musical (Patinkin), Best Lighting Design (David Hersey), Best Original Score (Lloyd Webber and Rice) and Best Musical.
