HBO has ordered eight episodes of a new San Francisco-set series about a group of gay friends starring Tony Award nominee Jonathan Groff, according to Deadline.com.
Groff (Spring Awakening, "Glee") will star with Frankie J. Alvarez and Murray Bartlett in the series that is based on an idea from the Michael Lannan screenplay "Lorimer." Haigh directed the pilot for the untitled dramatic comedy.
Produced by Andrew Haigh, Sarah Condon and David Marshall Grant, the series will begin shooting this fall in San Francisco towards a 2014 debut on HBO.
Groff is also set to appear in Ryan Murphy's HBO screen adaptation of Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart, which will begin filming in New York City this summer.
