Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters (Annie Get Your Gun, Song and Dance) will reprise her role as Ivy Lynn's mother on the second season finale of NBC's "Smash," according to TVLine.com. Rosie O'Donnell and Cheyenne Jackson are also among the episode's guest stars.
The second season of "Smash" — the Emmy Award-winning musical drama that has been struggling in TV ratings since its Feb. 5 premiere and will now air on Saturday nights — documents the race to the Tony Awards, which were filmed at the Marriott Marquis Hotel.
"You'll see the race to the Tonys," Krysta Rodriguezpreviously told Playbill.com. "I can't say, necessarily, if we are going to the Tonys, who's going to the Tonys — we don't know. They keep all of that under wraps, but there is definitely Tony conversation."
Although a third season for "Smash" is unlikely, Safran said that the season finale will lay the groundwork for future storylines. "Not everything is wrapped up," Safran said. "But the episode could also serve as a series finale should it need to."
