Sh-K-Boom records will release a full cast album of the new Broadway musical Bring It On, which features a score by Tom Kitt, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Amanda Green. The musical about competitive high school cheerleaders recently extended its Broadway run into 2013.
The cast of Bring It On is in a studio this week recording the album. A release date has not been announced. Sh-K-Boom recorded a previously released three-song sampler of music from Bring It On, which included tracks "It's All Happening," "Ain't No Thing" and "Enjoy the Trip."
Bring It On has music and lyrics by Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, music by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning composer Tom Kitt (Next to Normal) and lyrics by Kitt's High Fidelity collaborator Amanda Green. Jeff Whitty, the Tony-winning book writer of Avenue Q, authored the original book for the musical.
Tony-winning In the Heights choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler directs and choreographs the production, which has musical supervision by Tony Award winner Alex Lacamoire.
The Broadway engagement is the culmination of the national tour of Bring It On, which launched last fall in Los Angeles. It began Broadway previews July 12 at the St. James Theatre and officially opened Aug. 1. It extended its run to Jan. 20, 2013.
