Here Lies Love, a new pop musical about Filipina First Lady Imelda Marcos by Talking Heads' David Byrne and dance DJ Fatboy Slim, is receiving a three-week rehearsal residency at MASS MoCA this summer, prior to June 21-24 public workshop performances at the Hunter Center for the Performing Arts at MASS MoCA. Williamstown, MASS MoCA and The Public Theater aligned to develop the work.
Due to ticket demand, Williamstown has announced the addition of an 8 PM performance on June 20. The remainder of the June 21-24 run is sold out. As previously reported, Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) will direct the workshops and the Public world premiere of Here Lies Love. Ruthie Ann Miles will star as Imelda, opposite Jose Llana as Ferdinand Marcos.
The anticipated new musical Far From Heaven, penned by Tony Award-nominated Grey Gardens songwriters Scott Frankel (music) and Michael Korie (lyrics), will also play an additional performance July 25 at 2 PM.
Tony Award nominee Kelli O'Hara will star in Far From Heaven, which has a book by Richard Greenberg and will be staged by Tony winner Michael Greif.
