David Cromer, the much-in-demand director who created the role of the Stage Manager in the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway production of Our Town, plays his final performance in that Thornton Wilder drama Aug. 16 at the Barrow Street Theatre.

Cromer, who also directed the production, is departing to helm the upcoming Broadway revivals of Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs and Broadway Bound as well as Lincoln Center Theater's Off-Broadway production of When the Rain Stops Falling.

Cromer's staging of Our Town began performances in Greenwich Village Feb. 17 and opened to enthusiastic reviews on Feb. 26 at the Barrow Street. The space has been completely redesigned for this environmental production. The production has its roots in a 2008 Chicago non-Equity staging by Cromer for The Hypocrites.

Jason Butler Harner, who played Ivan Turgenev in the Tony Award-winning Tom Stoppard play The Coast of Utopia, will succeed Cromer beginning Aug. 25. During the interim period, Cromer's understudy, Jay Russell, will play the Stage Manager.

On Aug. 18 Our Town will also welcome Susan Bennett as Mrs. Soames, Nathan Dame as Sam Craig and Armand Schultz as Doc Gibbs. Jeremy Beiler will assume the role of Simon Stimson.

The complete cast includes Rob Beitzel as Howie Newsome, Kati Brazda as Mrs. Webb, George Demas as Constable Warren, Jennifer Grace as Emily, Wilbur Edwin Henry as Professor Willard, Adam Hinkle as Joe Crowell, Ronete Levenson as Rebecca Gibbs, James McMenamin as George, Ken Marks as Editor Webb, Seamus Mulcahy as Wally Webb, Lori Myers as Mrs. Gibbs, Jay Russell as Joe Stoddard, Armand Schultz as Doc Gibbs and Jason Yachanin as Si Crowell.

Our Town is produced by Scott Morfee, Jean Doumanian, Tom Wirtshafter, Ted Snowdon, Eagle Productions, Dena Hammerstein/Pam Pariseau, The Weinstein Company, and Burnt Umber Productions.

Barrow Street Theatre is located at 27 Barrow Street at 7th Avenue South in the heart of Greenwich Village. For tickets call (212) 868-4444 or visit www.smarttix.com.
