The acclaimed Off-Broadway staging of Thornton Wilder's Our Town has been extended into the New Year at the Barrow Street Theatre.

Variety reports that the production — directed by and starring David Cromer as the Stage Manager — will now play through Jan. 31, 2010.

Cromer will stay with the production until Aug. 16 prior to his rehearsals for the upcoming Broadway revivals of Neil Simon's Broadway Bound and Brighton Beach Memoirs. A replacement for Cromer has yet to be named.

Our Town currently features Jeremy Beiler as Sam Craig, Rob Beitzel as Howie Newsome, Kati Brazda as Mrs. Webb, George Demas as Constable Warren, Donna Jay Fulks as Mrs. Soames, Jennifer Grace as Emily, Wilbur Edwin Henry as Professor Willard, Adam Hinkle as Joe Crowell, Jake Horowitz as Wally Webb, Ronete Levenson as Rebecca Gibbs, Ken Marks as Editor Webb, Jonathan Mastro as Simon Stimson, James McMenamin as George, Mark L. Montgomery as Doc Gibbs, Lori Myers as Mrs. Gibbs, Jay Russell as Joe Stoddard, Jason Yachanin as Si Crowell and Cromer as the Stage Manager.

Cromer's staging of Our Town began performances in Greenwich Village Feb. 17 and opened to enthusiastic reviews on Feb. 26 at the Barrow Street venue. The space has been completely redesigned for this environmental production. The production has its roots in a 2008 Chicago non-Equity staging by Cromer for The Hypocrites. On June 8, that earlier staging was honored with 2009 Non-Equity Jeff Awards in Chicago in the categories of Outstanding Production - Play and Directing. That Chicago Our Town was remounted and partly-recast for the current New York City Equity run.

Our Town is produced by Scott Morfee, Jean Doumanian, Tom Wirtshafter, Ted Snowdon, Eagle Productions, Dena Hammerstein/Pam Pariseau, The Weinstein Company, and Burnt Umber Productions.

Tickets are available through smarttix (212) 868-4444, www.smarttix.com, or at the Barrow Street Theatre box office (open at 1 PM daily).

Student tickets at $20 are available on the day of performance only at the box office.

Barrow Street Theatre is located at 27 Barrow Street at 7th Avenue South.
