Will Playbill.com Readers Get Their Tony Wishes?

The Tony Award
The Tony Award

Since the announcement of the nominees for this year's 63rd Annual Tony Awards, Playbill.com has posted numerous polls in our Interactive section.

Although our polls ask readers who they would like to see win, rather than who they think will win, Playbill.com readers' choices have been fairly accurate. Last season, readers chose 13 winners correctly of the 17 awards polled. Readers were partial to The Homecoming's Raúl Esparza (over actual winner Jim Norton) and Macbeth's Patrick Stewart (over Boeing-Boeing's Mark Rylance) for Featured and Leading Actor in a Play, respectively. Cry-Baby choreographer Rob Ashford edged out actual winner Andy Blankenbuehler of In the Heights (35.2 percent to 33.3 percent). And, Passing Strange Best Book winner Stew (who polled at 15.3 percent) was a surprise to 39.7 percent of the readers (who opted for Xanadu's Douglas Carter Beane) and 34.7 percent (who chose In the Heights' Quiara Alegría Hudes).
