Billy Elliot's Shelley Will Make Drama Book Shop Appearance Feb. 19

Carole Shelley, who plays the grandmother in Billy Elliot the Musical, will take part in the Character Studies Talks With. . . series Feb. 19 at The Drama Book Shop's Arthur Seelen Theatre in Manhattan.

Tony Vellela leads the interview series, which begins at 5 PM. Following the chat will be a question-and-answer session with the audience and a book signing. Shelley will autograph books from a selection of the Broadway productions in which she has appeared.

Character Studies Talks With..., according to press notes, "provides a live audience with the opportunity to hear some of the theatre's greatest artists discuss their careers in conversation with Mr. Vellela."

Carole Shelley made her Broadway debut as Gwendolyn Pigeon in Neil Simon's The Odd Couple and has since played roles in Wicked, Cabaret, Show Boat, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, The Miser, Noises Off, The Norman Conquests, Stepping Out, Absurd Person Singular and The Elephant Man. She earned Tony Award nominations for her work in Absurd Person Singular and Stepping Out and won the Tony for The Elephant Man. She currently stars in Billy Elliot the Musical.
