Hump Day: Cory English Is Young Frankenstein's New Igor, Starting Nov. 25

Cory English will jump into the hump of Igor in Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan's musical, Young Frankenstein, starting Nov. 25, replacing Tony Award nominee Christopher Fitzgerald at Broadway's Hilton Theatre.
He joins current cast members Roger Bart, Shuler Hensley, Beth Leavel, Fred Applegate, Michele Ragusa and Kelly Sullivan. For tickets and information, visit Ticketmaster.com or call (212) 307-4100.
Young Frankenstein's original Igor (or "Eye"-Gore, if you prefer), Christopher Fitzgerald, a Best Featured Actor (Musical) Tony nominee, plays his final performance Nov. 23.
Young Frankenstein was named Best Broadway Musical 2008 by the Outer Critics Circle Award.
English's Broadway credits include …Forum, Barnaby in Hello, Dolly! with Carol Channing, Damn Yankees, Guys and Dolls and Gypsy with Tyne Daly. He moved to London to study acting at the Drama Studio London. While in the U.K., he performed in plays Corpus Christi at the Edinburgh Festival, Our Father and Comedy of Errors as both Dromios. In the West End, he played Mary Sunshine in Chicago, Benny Southstreet in Guys and Dolls with Ewan McGregor and Jane Krakowski, and was in The Producers in London and on tour.

Based on the Oscar-nominated smash hit 1974 film, Young Frankenstein "is the wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Mary Shelley classic from the comic genius of Mel Brooks. When Frederick Frankenstein, an esteemed New York brain surgeon and professor, inherits a castle and laboratory in Transylvania from his grandfather, deranged genius Victor Von Frankenstein, he faces a dilemma. Does he continue to run from his family's tortured past or does he stay in Transylvania to carry on his grandfather's mad experiments reanimating the dead and, in the process, fall in love with his sexy lab assistant Inga?"
Set "in the forbidding Castle Frankenstein and the foggy moors of Transylvania Heights," the show's score includes "The Transylvania Mania," "He Vas My Boyfriend" and the unforgettable treatment of Irving Berlin's "Puttin' On the Ritz."
