Winters, Grody, Feiffer, Elliot, Broderick, Sommer and Degnan Set for Jacob's Ladder Reading

By Andrew Gans
12 Nov 2008

A reading of the new play Jacob's Ladder will be presented at 92YTribecca Nov. 17.

Presented by James Garbus and Jonathan Burkhart in association with Naked Angels, the 8 PM reading will be directed by Ethan Silverman. The cast comprises Dean Winters, Kathryn Grody, Halley Feiffer, Shawn Elliot, Beth Broderick, Rich Sommer and Tom Degnan.

Jacob's Ladder was penned by Dennis Bailey and David Mixner. The play, according to press notes, is described as such: "In the spring of 1944, at the height of World War II, a highly sensitive, top secret debate was being waged within the Roosevelt Administration. A daring and controversial proposal had been set forth to divert Allied forces to bomb the concentration camps in Eastern Europe. Immediately, passionate, compelling arguments arose between two factions: those hoping to possibly stem a developing holocaust and others determined to save the millions already incarcerated. A young, unassuming low-level newcomer to the White House, Jacob Greenstein, is unexpectedly thrust in the midst of the polarizing discussion with a surprising chance to influence a decision that could alter history forever."

92YTribecca is located at 200 Hudson Street, just south of Canal Street. There is a $12 cover charge; call (212) 601-1000 for reservations. Doors will open at 7:30 PM.
