London's Wicked Now Booking Through September 2009

| photo by Tristram Kenton | The West End production of Wicked opens a new booking period Sept. 1. Tickets for the international hit musical are now on sale for more than a year in advance for all performances to Sept. 26, 2009.
This year alone the production is reported to have taken in almost £20 million at the box office. To date it has grossed £55 million in the West End and been seen by over 1.5 million people.
In a press statement, Michael McCabe – executive producer of the London production – said, "As we enter our third year in the West End the success of Wicked continues to grow. We have enjoyed an incredibly successful 2008 and business is up week-on-week from 2007 which is an extraordinary achievement. We are now delighted to be adding our sixth booking period and putting almost half a million (460,692) new tickets on sale. We have been averaging over £600,000 gross a week all summer, and we are delighted that there is absolutely no sign of Wicked being affected by the 'credit crunch.' In fact theatregoers appear to be actively seeking out the show in this current climate in order to enjoy a night of pure escapism and value-for-money entertainment."
The production currently stars Alexia Khadime as Elphaba, Dianne Pilkington as Glinda, Oliver Tompsett as Fiyero, Harriet Thorpe as Madame Morrible, Desmond Barrit as The Wizard, Caroline Keiff as Nessarose, Jeremy Legat as Boq and Andy Mace as Doctor Dillamond. Kerry Ellis will replace Khadime when she returns from Broadway to rejoin the company as Elphaba Dec. 1.
