The 39 Steps, the 2007 Olivier Award winner for Best New Comedy, reopened on Broadway May 8 at the Cort Theatre.

Billed as "equal parts hilarious whodunit, espionage thriller and quick-change comedy," the work was adapted by Patrick Barlow and directed by Maria Aitken. Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon conceived the production based on the book by John Buchan with a dash of Alfred Hitchcock — who helmed the 1935 film version.

Following a limited run at Roundabout Theatre Company's American Airlines Theatre, the "Hitchcock meets hilarious" staging transferred to the Cort Theatre April 29.

London star Charles Edwards reprises his turn as Richard Hannay opposite Jennifer Ferrin (in the female roles) as well as Arnie Burton and Cliff Saunders (as a number of others characters).
