The Nance, Starring Nathan Lane, Promises Burlesque, Laughter, Heartbreak

Stars Nathan Lane, Jonny Orsini, Cady Huffman, Andréa Burns and Lewis J. Stadlen were joined by playwright Douglas Carter Beane and director Jack O'Brien to discuss the Lincoln Center Theater production of the new play-with-music The Nance. Taking both comedic and dramatic turns, the play features Lane as Chauncy Miles, a gay burlesque performer of the 1930s. His signature onstage character (the effeminate nance) and willingness to expose his private life make him the focus of Mayor LaGuardia's attempt to clean up the city in preparation for the World's Fair. The production also features full burlesque numbers based on classic bits, with orchestrations by Larry Blank and original music and arrangements by Glen Kelly. Performances begin March 21 at Broadway's Lyceum Theatre. See the Playbill cover and full production credits at Playbillvault.com.
