Highlights From Rupert Holmes' The Mystery of Edwin Drood

The Broadway revival of Rupert Holmes’ (book, music, lyrics) The Mystery of Edwin Drood stars Stephanie J. Block as the title character, drawing from the English music hall tradition of a female playing a lead male role. With cast members Will Chase, Chita Rivera, Jim Norton and Jessie Mueller in tow, the Scott Ellis-directed musical is based on the unfinished Charles Dickens novel of the same name. Wrapped in a play-within-a-play structure, the production asks the audience to vote on "whodunit" in order to complete the story that Dickens did not. Here, the cast runs through tunes "Two Kinsmen," "Moonfall," "The Wages of Sin," and the iconic "The Writing on the Wall."
