2012 Tony Awards Preview: Best Original Score

Frank Wildhorn and Don Black's Bonnie & Clyde score uses blues, rockabilly and gospel flavors to tell the tale of Depression-era American outlaws Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow.

Alan Menken and Jack Feldman supplement their Newsies film score with new lyrics, counterpoints and arrangements, along with six entirely new songs written for the Newsboy Strike-inspired stage musical.

Grant Olding's songs for the slapstick comedy One Man, Two Guvnors are played onstage before the show and during scene changes, sometimes incorporating cast members by the 60s-style Brit pop foursome The Craze.

Wayne Barker and Rick Elice supplemented the Peter Pan prequel Peter and the Starcatcher with two full British musical-hall-style songs, plus underscoring and transition music.
