2012 Tony Awards Preview: Best Actress in a Play

Venus in Fur's Nina Arianda is nominated for her performance as Vanda, an actress auditioning for a play based on Leopold von Sacher-Masoch's novella "Venus in Furs."

End of the Rainbow's Tracie Bennett embodies a drug-and-alcohol-addicted Judy Garland (singing up a storm) in the months leading up to the legendary performer's death.

Other Desert Cities star Stockard Channing plays Polly Wyeth, a mother trying to keep her daughter from dredging up an unpleasant piece of family history.

The Lyons star Linda Lavin plays Rita Lyons, a woman dealing with a dying husband and two emotionally unstable grown children.

Wit's Cynthia Nixon is nominated for her performance as Vivian Bearing, Ph.D., a demanding English professor who is dying of ovarian cancer.
