PLAYBILL EXCLUSIVE: Choreographer Randy Skinner (Quickly!) Works Out the Kinks in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes

Three-time Tony-nominated choreographer Randy Skinner (Irving Berlin's White Christmas, 42nd Street) gave Playbill an exclusive behind-the-scenes peek as he worked with the dance ensemble of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes for the May 9-13 City Center Encores! concert revival of the musical comedy. With a tight schedule (more or less five days) for everyone to learn the steps, it was a whirlwind of movement and ideas in the rehearsal room. The odd rhythms and syncopation of the 1949 Jule Styne-Leo Robin score added an extra layer of challenge to the learning process, but "I Love What I'm Doing" — a show tune from the classic — might have been their watchcry.
