Hats Off: Follies Opens on Broadway, and the Stars Glitter

Stephen Sondheim and James Goldman's Follies, the 1971 musical about a reunion of former revue stars, opened Sept. 12 on Broadway in a new production starring Bernadette Peters, Jan Maxwell, Ron Raines, Danny Burstein and Elaine Paige, who all talked to Playbill on opening night at the Marquis Theatre. Director Eric Schaeffer and choreographer Warren Carlyle were also on hand to cheer on the "beautiful girls" (and boys) who populate the groundbreaking musical about public hope and optimism vs. private disappointment and despair. See our earlier video about the show's costume designs here.
