Open Call for The Boys From Syracuse - Heights Players, Brooklyn NY

The Heights Players (Brooklyn,NY) is pleased to announce auditions for their upcoming production of The Boys From Syracuse. Non Equity, no pay.

Auditions will take place on Monday, September 8th and Tuesday, September 9th at 7PM. Callbacks will be held on Wednesday, September 10th, also at 7PM. Rehearses Sundays - Thursdays in the evenings, beginning September 14th. Performances  November 7th, 8th, 14th, 15th, 21st, and 22nd at 8PM, November 9th, 16th, and 23rd at 2PM.
All auditions, rehearsals, and performances will be held at The Heights Players, 26 Willow Place, Brooklyn NY, 11201.

BREAKDOWN:
The Dromio roles have been cast from early submissions. The following roles are open. EVERYBODY sings. EVERYBODY dances:

Antipholus of Syracuse (25-40) - Leading man type. Well respected, headstrong man, weary after years of searching for his brother. Cocky, at times, but for the most part, sincere and virtuous. High Baritone. **We will accept early submissions for this role. Please send headshot/resume to velardicasting@yahoo.com.**

Antipholus of Ephesus (25-40) - Leading man type. A bully. Very cocky, very stubborn. Loves his wife, but also has a wandering eye. Baritone. **We will accept early submissions for this role. Please send headshot/resume to velardicasting@yahoo.com.**

Adriana (25-40) - Headstrong wife of Antipholus of Ephesus. Not afraid to go after what she wants. Beautiful, smart, funny. Lyric soprano with good ear for harmony. Must move well.

Luciana (20-35) - Shy, naive, younger sister of Adriana. Pretty, sweet, innocent. Soprano with good ear for harmony. Must move well.

Luce (30-45) - Adriana's sex-starved kitchen wench. Preferably a larger sized woman, but more importantly, an excellent comedianne. Alto. Must move well.

Head Courtesan (25-40) - The "madam" of Ephesus. Sexy. Strong alto belt. Strong dancer.

MALE ENSEMBLE (All ages, all must move well):

Sergeant of Police - Tenor
Duke of Ephesus - Low Baritone, Bass
Aegeon, Sorceror - Baritone
Merchant of Syracuse
Angelo, Pygmalion
Corporal

FEMALE ENSEMBLE (All ages):

3 Maids - Play other small roles as well. Strong singers who move.
3 Courtesans - Strong dancers who sing.

Please prepare a 32 bar selection from the American standard/musical theatre canon, in the style of (but not from) The Boys From Syracuse. Please provide sheet music in the correct key. No lead sheets or taped accompaniment, please. Accompanist will be provided. Bring picture and resume, stapled together. There will be no dancing at the initial audition, be prepared to move if called back. If cast, you must become a member of The Heights Players, which requires a $20 membership fee.
