"The problem with dance auditions isn't YOU!
I firmly believe it's the crazy environment we're exposed to that influences our self confidence and our performance. Why can't you pick up the combination? I'm willing to bet it's not because it's too hard or to long. I find it can be most difficult because whoever is teaching it isn't speaking in your learning language.
In this class we will explore how to be your own teacher while learning combinations in the room. We will take a peek at combinations from exciting shows that are waiting in the wings for their New York run. This way you'll have a leg up when they're announced!" ~Patrick
We are delighted to invite this generous, creative, insightful artist to our community to share his words of wisdom and positive energy. Please come share in a special evening of dance and empowerment.
As an actor, Patrick was last seen on Broadway in the revival of On A Clear Day You Can See Forever starring Harry Connick, Jr. and toured country with the Broadway companies of Chicago and Oklahoma!. He can also be seen dancing on the silver screen in Mel Brooks’ “The Producers” and Julie Taymor’s “Across the Universe”. Other favorites include The Nutty Professor directed by Jerry Lewis, the title role in Bat Boy: The Musical earning him a Helen Hayes Award nomination, and singing on Barbara Cook’s Mostly Sondheim for PBS. He spent this past winter in sunny Los Angeles with Barry Manilow’s Broadway bound musical Harmony.
As a choreographer he has staged concerts for Tony Award nominee Kelli O’Hara with the Boston Pops and for Mario Cantone on “The View” celebrating Barbara Walters and opening the show’s 14th Season. He has had the pleasure of staging two companies of Leonard Bernstein’s Mass: Utah Symphony/Utah Opera - conducted by Keith Lockhart, and served as the associate on Mr. Bernstein’s Mass for the gala re-opening of the Opera House at The Kennedy Center.
As a teacher, he has served on staff for both Britney Spears’ and Usher’s performing arts intensives.
For five years he choreographed the New York concert event Broadway Backwards which brings together stars from television, film and the theatre in a one-night-only evening live on Broadway to raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids.
About Motivated Movers NYC:
Motivated Movers is a unique mind/body dance program designed to create a safe space for beginner dancers to explore, express, create, and manifest empowerment as performing artists. It is our mission to motivate and educate movers within the musical theatre industry in a safe and positive space to set our students up for success for all auditions and artistic endeavors.
We are building...
~A loving, joyful, supportive community.
~A mind/body dance class to develop basic technique.
~A place to build confidence and grow as artists.
~A place to embrace one's potential.
Motivated Movers provides affordable, convenient dance classes, private coachings, and masterclasses, all ways for actors to hone their dance skills and evolve as artists. Our classes are theatre based, exploring fundamental jazz, ballet, and tap technique. We take the time to break down steps and concepts, working at our students paces. We also explore mental and emotional hurdles so that we can face them together and overcome. Essentially, we give our students all their vitamins disguised with lots of sugar and joy.
