Casting "Alienne: The Musical Adventures of My Little Martian," a one-hour, 7-actor musical comedy for FringeNYC.
In this wacky space-age take on "The Little Mermaid," Alienne is a spunky Martian teenager who longs to be an Earthling. As she pursues her dream, she encounters an evil space witch, some goofy space creatures, and one sweet Earthling guy. With a pop-rock score, a cast of spaced-out characters, and tons of audience participation, it’s a show for people of all ages.
Casting the following roles:
ALIENNE (F, teens/early 20s): The heroine-- a spunky, optimistic, and resourceful Martian teenager. All the appeal of a Disney princess, with a strong pop voice and youthful charm.
TIM (M, teens/early 20s): The romantic juvenile lead. A human amateur astronomer, he’s intelligent, affable, sincere, and a bit of a geek. Tenor.
EARTHSULA (F, 30s+): The evil space witch, a comic villainess. Wicked, impatient, powerful, funny and fabulous. Big belt and commanding stage presence are a must.
KING NEBULA (M, 30s+): Alienne’s father, the ruler of Mars. Begins as imperious, haughty, and unyielding, but eventually reveals his sentimental side. Bari-tenor.
COSMINA (F, teens/early 20s): Alienne’s best friend. Brainy, hip, and no-nonsense. Strong singer and comic actress.
QUARK (M, any age) Earthsula’s comical hench-creature. Goofy, content, appealingly dumb. Must have strong comic instincts and great improv skills.
SPROCKET (M, any age): Tim’s robot companion. Sarcastic, dry, inhumanly intelligent and sesquipedalian. (Look it up!)
