Synopsis:
The two components of The Neil Simon Plays are the author's semi-autobiographical comedies Brighton Beach Memoirs and Broadway Bound. In the first play, Depression-era teenager Eugene Jerome dreams of becoming a successful comedy writer, but his fantasies are constantly punctured (and ultimately fueled) by his squabbling family. In Broadway Bound, Eugene and his brother Stanley are embarked on careers as professional comedy writers, but is there a price to pay if they incorporate their real-life (and troubled) parents in a comedy routine?
