By Ernio Hernandez
29 Apr 2009

Bill Irwin
Bill Irwin

Bill Irwin — who stars in the Broadway revival of Waiting for Godot — fills out Playbill.com's questionnaire with random facts, backstage trivia and pop culture tidbits.

Full given name: William Mills Irwin
Hometown: Hometowns in receding order of memory: Chelsea in Manhattan, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Tulsa
Audition song: "Me, Myself and I" in C Major.
Special skills: They come and go.
If you could go back in time and catch any Broadway show, what would it be? An appearance by the Nicholas Brothers.
Favorite show tune: "Sunny Side of the Street"
MAC or PC? Never sure I know the difference.
One CD you couldn't live without: Various Count Basie CDs, indispensable
Last book you read: "How Lincoln Learned to Read" [by Daniel Wolff]
Must-see TV show: "The Paul Lynde Halloween Special" of 1974
Last good movie you saw: "Milk"
Favorite board game: Civil War (circa 1963)
Performer you would drop everything to go see: Can't "drop everything" anymore...
Pop culture guilty pleasure: Dido
First stage kiss: A woman in a gorilla suit
Favorite post-show meal: Red meat
How you got your Equity card: Brought a show called The Regard of Flight to New York, to the American Place Theatre.
Worst onstage mishap: Stepped onto what I thought was a breakaway floor section, braced for fall-through... nothing happened. Continued number, not knowing where the breakaway was. Found it. Very quiet curtain call.
Who have you played on "Law & Order"? Which edition? A cult leader and a guilty Father. ["Law & Order" and "Criminal Intent"]
Worst costume ever: A coat that got curdled cream in the lining. It looked terrific, but no one would come near me.
Cats or dogs? Proximity or Distance?
Favorite cereal: Granola with coconut.
Worst job you ever had: It would be un-gallant to say.
TV or commercial gig you most enjoyed: "Sesame Street" (also least)
Leading man role you've been dying to play King Lear
