PLAYBILL.COM'S CUE & A: Leslie Kritzer

By Ernio Hernandez
23 Apr 2008

Leslie Kritzer

Leslie Kritzer — who co-stars in the new Broadway musical A Catered Affair — fills out Playbill.com's questionnaire with random facts, backstage trivia and pop culture tidbits.

Full given name: Leslie Suzanne Kritzer
Hometown: Livingston, NJ
Zodiac sign: Gemini
Audition song: I don't have a standard one, but the one I used that got me my current job: "Where Is It Written?" from "Yentl"
Special skills: Characters, impressions, accents and pratfalls.
First Broadway show ever saw: 42nd Street with Jerry Orbach when I was seven.
If you could go back in time and catch any Broadway show, what would it be? Easy: Funny Girl with Barbra Streisand
Current show you have been recommending to friends: August: Osage County – I saw it twice in two days. Obviously, I liked it.
Favorite show tune: There are thousands…but the first one that comes to mind is Cole Porter's "Love for Sale"
MAC or PC? PC…but soon to be MAC
Most played song on your iPod: "Spirit in the Dark" by Aretha Franklin
One CD you couldn't live without: I can't really think of any, but I will say I couldn't live without that aforementioned iPod!
Last book you read: "Floor Sample: A Creative Memoir" by Julia Cameron
Must-see TV show: "John Adams" on HBO. I also have to add "The Wire" and "Deadwood" – and that includes every episode of every season. Can you tell I'm an HBO fan?
Last good movie you saw: "Once" – it completely destroyed me.
Performer you would drop everything to go see: Bette Midler and Portishead…I know there are many more.
Pop culture guilty pleasure: "Making the Band" with the girl group Danity Kane on MTV. I was kind of addicted.
First stage kiss: No clue. (Maybe that's a problem!)
Favorite pre-show meal: Anything from Ozu or Souen – both are macrobiotic, primarily vegetarian restaurants and they're delicious. Try it.
How you got your Equity card: My sophomore year of college when I did a summer season at The MUNY in St. Louis.
Worst onstage mishap: On the national tour of Urinetown as Little Becky, I sprained my tailbone during a pratfall gone awry - it is the worst pain I have experienced to date.
Worst costume ever: A Winkie Guard in The Wizard of Oz. Outdoor theatre, July, St. Louis – can you say heat stroke?
Favorite cereal: Quaker Oatmeal Squares
Who would play you in the movie? Mary-Louise Parker
Worst job you ever had: I honestly can't say…people still work there.
What leading lady role have you been dying to play? Fanny Brice…again!
