American Idol finalists and real-life couple Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young will co-star in the first national tour of First Date, which is set to begin in fall 2020. The tour's itinerary has not been announced.
The tour will reflect a newly updated version of the musical that premiered on Broadway in 2013. First Date features a score by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, with a book by Austin Winsberg. Matt DiCarlo will direct the tour.
DeGarmo and Young, who met during their run in the Broadway revival of Hair, previously toured together in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. DeGarmo has also appeared in Hairspray, Brooklyn, The Toxic Avenger, and The Marvelous Wonderettes. Young made his Broadway debut in the 2007 Broadway revival of Grease.
